Wilma Ligthart
is a filmmaker, actress, and yoga teacher. She started out as an actress in 1981 with the Dogtroep, with whom she toured Europe. As of 1985 she wrote and directed her own plays, which won prizes at various international theatre festivals. A few years later she started working as a screenwriter and playwright for the VPRO public broadcaster. She often took on roles in her own series. She created De Hondenshow (The Dog Show), among others, which she later also staged at De Parade. In her latest play, Het Spiritueel Bordeel (The Spiritual Brothel) she combines humour and spirituality. She prefers to take on subjects that people don't like to talk about but recognize themself in, such as obesity, heartbreak, and "the first time."

In this documentary, director Wilma Ligthart accompanies the royally distinguished Surinamese writer Cynthia McLeod to places that play a role in her life and work. After the screening, film journalist Bert Jansma speaks with both women. The public will have the opportunity to ask questions as well.
