Willie Darktrousers

(1990) is an artist, musician and producer of his own label Snertmormel Records. WIth his band he released the punk and metal album Glibberburen in 2017, followed in 2020 by Eenzame hoogte (Lonely heights). On this solo EP he excels with thick beats, hip-hop and auto-tune: he combines trap and drill with original European music, such as medieval and early Baroque music, folk from Northeast Europe and Celtic music. Together with performers Dean Bowen, Martin Rombouts and Maxime Garcia Diaz, he created the music and spoken word performance Poetic Resistance: a poetic indictment of anger and resistance in which he supports the poets in their readings with dark electronics. Can a demonstration be a poem, a manifesto an art object? Especially for the closing programme of Winternachten festival 2023, they made new work together in response to the question: what is the raw material of the poem?
