Samanta Schweblin

(Argentina, 1978) has, since 2002, published an internationally acclaimed oeuvre of three collections of short stories, a novel and a novella. Her work has been translated into more than twenty languages. She lives in Berlin. Her debut novel, Distancia de rescate (Fever Dream, 2014), is a compelling dialogue between two mothers, set against a threatening background of environmental problems. In the novel Kentukis (Little Eyes), cute little animal robots have become a fad, offering comfort, friendship or cuddliness. But the cameras in their eyes record everything and are controlled via the Internet by an unknown force. Schweblin hits a sensitive nerve in an era of Internet giants and social media that know everything about us.
