Kees Lagerberg

Dr. C.S.I.J. Lagerberg is an expert on the Indonesian Archipelago and a former head lecturer at the Catholic University Brabant. He was also a governer in Dutch New Guinea.

The recent history of West-Papua is subject of a choice of film-fragments, made by Kees Lagerberg. Lagerberg is a specialist on this part of Dutch (post-)colonial history, and will give his comment.

Papua, the stolen independance
West-Papua was promised independance once. But Mr Luns and president Soekarno thought otherwise. Dirk Vlasblom, NRC correspondent in Jakarta, has written the first extensive history of West-Papua. He tried to write as much as possible from the Papuan's point of view . The exiled Papuan headmen Viktor Kaisiëpo and Zacharias Sawor have fought for years for a West-Papuan future.
