Guido Snel

(Amstelveen, 1972) studied Comparative Literature at the University of Amsterdam. In 2003 he obtained his doctorate with a thesis titled Fictionalized Autobiography and the Idea of Central Europe. He now teaches European literature. His attention goes in particular to Eastern Europe and the Balkans, but he is also interested in how the terms East and West get their fictional form. In his own fiction - two novels : Mr. Lugosi 's butler and De dichter en de dief (‘The poet and thief’), and a collection of short stories Huis voor het hiernamaals (‘A house for the afterlife’) - he examines how the limits imposed by time and space can be abolished.
