Bert Tahitu

(1957) wrote his Ph. D. in 1989 in Leiden on the Melaju Sini, the variant of the Malaysian of Moluccan youngsters in the Netherlands. From 1990 to 2006 Tahitu worked for the Landelijk Steunpunt Educatie Molukkers and was in charge of the continuing education in the field of the Moluccan community (language, culture and history) aimed at professionals. In addition to these courses and trainings for among others primary and secondary school teachers, health workers, civil servants and mayors, Tahitu taught courses in Moluccan Malayan and culture. In his free time Tahitu hosts parties and events, chairs meetings, is a quiz-master and is a talkshow host. He has been a regular host of Pasar Palams round the Netherlands. As of September 2006 Tahitu is a fulltime lawyer with Wattilete Advocaten in Amsterdam.
