Book of my Life: Hanna Bervoets on A little life by Hanya Yanagihara (NL)
Listen to the Book of My Life podcast, where writers share the book that has inspired or moved them—the book that has shaped their artistic, moral, or intellectual compass. In short, the book they recommend to everyone.
Hanna Bervoets chose A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. Published in 2015, the novel became an international bestseller. Four college friends navigate life together in New York: Willem, the charming actor; JB, the eccentric artist; Malcolm, the talented architect; and Jude St. Francis. Withdrawn, intelligent and enigmatic, Jude keeps his past to himself, and his friends know better than to ask questions. They try to ease his pain, but as the decades pass, the question remains: can Jude ever escape the demons of his past?
