Turkish film: The Photograph

A profound Turkish-Kurdish drama from director Kazim Öz, about the destructive effect of war. During a twenty hour long bus journey two boys become friends. One of them joins the Turkish army, the other one the Kurdish rebels. They are both of the same age. Without knowing each others background, a temporarily but sincere friendship developes. Several months later they meet one another again under very different circumstances: during the bloody fighting between the army and the rebels one of the boys stumbles over the lifeless body of the other. Director Kazim Öz made his film, in which both Turkish and Kurdish is spoken, in a deceptively simple style. Appearing are Feyyaz Duman and Nazmi Qynix.
