Francis Broekhuijsen presents a festive programme in the foyer of the theatre. With dance and music workshops by DJ Jairzinho, the sale of books by Paagman Bookstore, signing sessions by the writers, and at the end of the evening we dance into the night. Cultural Press Agency 'The Dodo' reports live from the festival. Visitors can contribute with their smartphones via Twitter and a blog.
Also in the foyer The Jasmine Revolution – A Video installation by Abdellatif Benfaidoul, commissioned by Africa in the Picture. A visual sum up of the Arab raising in the spring of 2011, made from all the uploaded videos into the social Media.

Francis Broekhuijsen

(The Netherlands, 1970) is a presenter, producer, actor and voice-over artist specializing in music, literature, arts and culture. After graduating as actor from the Toneelschool Amsterdam he was a member, among others, of the ensemble of the Nationale Toneel. He was a presenter at Amsterdam-based broadcaster AT5 and a radio producer with the KRO on national network NPO Radio 1. He narrates audio books, and was shortlisted for the Storytel Award 2019 for Best Audio Book with his reading of Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer's novel Grand Hotel Europa. Until last year, he presented on radio station Sublime the daily morning show Sublime Sunrise, the Instagram poetry programme Sublime Smooth and evening show The Sublime Experience. In 2025 he wrote and hosted the tv-series Kringlopen met Francis on regional Dutch broadcaster NH. Broekhuijsen works for Writers Unlimited as festival curator and presenter.

DJ Jairzinho

(1973) in daily life is known by the name of Jaïr Tchong. Right now he works as a project leader world music with Muziek Centrum Nederland and is a member of the supervisory board of Global Dance Lab. In the past he was, among other things, world music programmer at the Melkweg and chair of the commission on internationalisation at the Fonds Podiumkunsten. In addition to being a dj Jairzinho is also a world music journalist. He has an Aruban-Chinese father and a Dutch mother. From the age of fifteen music has been his passion, sussessively punk, new wave, soul, jazz, funk, African, Brazilian and Salsa/Latin. In 2000 he started working in Amsterdam as a dj and freelance journalist with OYE Listen, Het Parool, De Groene Amsterdammer, Nieuwe Revu, Preludium, Ontdek Afrika and NIW. Jairzinho mainly plays afro-latin: all kinds of black dance music have his interest. In addition he increasingly uses East European and oriental music in his eclectic mix. Jairzinho performned among other venues at Oerol, in the Bloemendaalse Republiek, RASA in Utrecht and at the Bimhuis, Bitterzoet, Melkweg and Paradiso in Amsterdam.
