Film: Fleeing is No Longer Allowed

Gerlinda Haywegen, a curator with the festival and programmer for The Hague's Filmhuis, presents and introduces a series of short films, video clips and animated shorts. The linking factor: fleeing and refugees. The video clip to PJ Harvey's song "The Wheel" shows possible motives for fleeing; a virtuostically shot documentary on Lampedusa is fictional in form and factual in content; and the illegally shot video clip of Afghani rapper Sonita went globally viral due to her plea for equal rights for girls and women. Also, animation can be a way to show "reality" better than a man with a camera ever could. Fleeing today is no longer allowed but happens ever more often. This is real life.
