Film: Babakiueria

Amongst the movies that were programmed around the theme Fake was the ‘fake’ documentary, or so-called mockumentary Babakiueria, in which Australia is discovered by a group of Aboriginals who occupy it, after which roles are radically reversed: the whites form a minority, paternalistic aboriginals take white kids away from their families, white families are sent to an uninhabited area because the black government needs their homes. This short by Don Featherstone casts a sarcastic, but all too effective glance on racial stereotypes and inequality. 30 min. In English.
