Writer Zulfah Otto Salies is intrigued by her fifteen year old daughter Muneera. Both grew up in the same tradition, the same religion and in the same surroundings of the historical Bo-Kaap, the Muslim neighbourhood in Capetown. Mother Zulfah decides to make a film about her daughter in order to come to a better understanding of her daughter's social environment. Muneera is followed for one year, during which we can see that she posesses all the characteristics of a fifteen year old anywhere in the world, including an obsession for mobile phones, alternately being shy or indifferent, or overacting in front of the camera. We can see her uncertainty but also her excitement as she, in her own way, becomes involved with drama, film and sport. We hear her opinions on her social environment, the problems she experiences due to her belief and notice how proud she is of her country. And we see a mother who is proud of her daughter and who, in the course of the filming, begins to understand her daughter more and more.
