The ashes of memory; a portrait of the poet/doctor Jit Narain

Jit Narain is one of Surinams most important poets. He writes in Sarnami, the language of the Hindustan-Surinamese people. In daily life Jit is a doctor in the Saramacca district. In the summer of 2004 John Albert made a documentary about this striking person. this documentary shows, amongst other things, Jit Narain performing during the Winternachten Overseas festival in Paramaribo.
