Characteristic of this formation are the flute and violins replacing the brass section. The band plays a varied repertoire, including mambo, guarachas, son, cha cha cha and danzon. Gerardo Rosales, the founder of Charanga la Crisis, brought together musicians of a high standard, who are very familiar with the charanga style. This year they produced the cd Charaga la Crisis, Salsa Antigua.
