Novelist and short-story writer Michel Faber was born in The Hague, but emigrated to Australia in 1967. He completed his best-seller The Book of Strange New Things (2015), while losing his wife Eva to cancer. He said he was done with writing, but did in fact publish Undying - A Love Story, a volume of poetry in memory of the love of his life.
Aimée de Jongh, award-winning comic author and animator from the Netherlands, feels a strong connection to the work of Michel Faber, who in turn likes comics. De Jongh published international acclaimed graphic novels like TAXI! and Blossoms in Autumn.

Michel Faber

(1960, The Hague, NL) emigrated from the Netherlands to Australia in 1967. There, he studied Dutch, English, rhetoric and philosophy, became a nurse, and debuted as a writer in 1998. His 2002 best-seller The Crimson Petal and the White, about a young prostitute in Victorian London, constituted his international breakthrough. In Dickensian scenarios sprinkled with Freudian, post-Marxist and feminist themes he describes how she becomes a governess and, after being fired, learns to survive together with her pupil. In 2015 The Book of Wonderful New Things appeared; it is about the love between a minister, who travels to another planet, and his wife, who stays home and receives his letters. He wrote this best-seller while losing his wife Eva to cancer. He said he was done with writing, but did in fact publish Undying - A Love Story, a volume of poetry in memory of the love of his life.

Aimée de Jongh

(1988) is a Dutch comic author, animator and illustrator. She debuted with Snippers, a humorous daily comic series for the Dutch newspaper Metro. Her first graphic novel The Return of the Honey Buzzard (2014) won the Prix Saint-Michel and was adapted to film. In 2017 she made her first graphic journalism work, the drawn report Europe’s Waiting Room, after visiting the refugee camps on Lesbos. Her most recent novels are the autobiography TAXI!, and Blossoms in Autumn, about love after 60, written by the Belgian comic author Zidrou. Aimée de Jongh also animated a series of music videos for the television show De Wereld Draait Door. Her biggest animation project was Behind the Telescopes, a 71-minute theatrical film with harpist Lavinia Meijer, which she directed and animated. De Jongh is currently working on two new comic books, which will be released in 2020 and 2021.
