Spinvis

(The Netherlands, 1961) is the band of Erik de Jong, singer-songwriter of experimental pop. Before founding Spinvis, De Jong was active in punk, new wave and all kinds of electronic music with great musicality and experimentation. On his debut album Spinvis (2002), he shows himself to be a masterful performer, producer and lyricist. He formed a live band that accompanies him on a theatre tour, followed by the live album Nieuwegein aan zee. Spinvis' exceptional work stands out because of very careful arrangements and exceptional lyrics. He receives prestigious music awards, including the Pop Prize, the Johnny van Doorn Prize and the Lennaert Nijgh Prize. In 2023, Spinvis released his seventh album Be-bop-a-lula. On it, he moves from subject to subject in colloquial language without logical connection: a creative and valued use of language that characterises his oeuvre.
