Rozalie Hirs

(The Netherlands, 1965) is a composer and poet. She took piano and singing lessons as a teenager, and then obtained her Master's degree in chemical engineering at the University of Twente. During this study, she sings in opera productions, and writes and sings for her new wave band Boolean. She then studied composition and classical singing at the Royal Conversatorium in The Hague, among other institutes. Hirs has composed a wide range of musical works: from electronic or electroacoustic, spoken-voice music and chamber music to ensemble and orchestral works. She first presented her poems in 1991, debuting in De Revisor in 1992 and releasing her first collection Locus in 1998. Subsequently, in addition to digital poetry, several collections follow, including ecologica (2023) on climate change, awarded the Jan Campert Prize.
