Michele Hutchison
(1972) translates literary fiction and nonfiction, poetry, graphic novels, and children’s books from Dutch and French into English. She received the Vondel Translation Prize 2019 for Stage Four, her English translation of Sander Kollaard’s Stadium IV. In 2020 The Discomfort of Evening, her translation of Marieke Lucas Rijneveld’s novel was awarded the International Booker Prize. Michele has translated more than forty books including novels by Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer, Esther Gerritsen, Sander Kollaard and Tom Lanoye. She is also co-author of the successful parenting book The Happiest Kids in the World.
