Marisha Carty
(Sint Maarten, 1981) is a member of the Sint Maarten group The Young Poets Society. She has been writing since whe was attending secondary school. "I started out writing stories of love and romance that I dreamt would some day happen to me. These stories later evolve into poetry, my expression of hurt, pain, joy, sorrow and disappointment. Through writing I am able to escape in a world that is comfortable and safe, where I can free myself in thought and when I recite through words. Poetry has helped me cope with many situations in my life. Through this art-form of reciting poetry I hope that listeners can connect with me or any other poet and feel the release we feel through our words. "
