Kawa Nemir
(1974) is a Kurdish poet, short story-writer, translator and editor. As editor-in-chief of the Kurdish literary-cultural magazines Jiyana Rewşen en Rewşen-Name during the years 1997-2003, and afterwards as founder of publishing house Bajar, Nemir has made a lasting impression on important Kurdish literary works. He also translated many books and poems from English to Kurdish and from Kurdish into Turkish. In 2019, he publishes his Kurdish translation of Ulysses by James Joyce. Through the Dutch Foundation of Literature, Nemir is since June 2018 the temporary inhabitant of the Amsterdam Vluchtstad appartment in Anne Frank's former home. Nemir studies English language and literature at the Hacettepe University in Ankara and at the University of Istanbul.
