Hellen Kooijman

(1968 ) studied Eastern European Studies, is a journalist and has been writing about Eastern-Europe and Bulagria for over 15 years. She is fluent in Bulgarian and often travels to Bulgaria. She regulary publishes articles about Bulgaria in Dutch journals and has written several books, including In Bulgarije. Een vertwijfelde natie op weg naar Europa (‘In Bulgaria. A desperate nation on the road to Europe’ ( 2006). She also contributed to Het Oostblokboek (2014) and functioned as editor in chief of Donau (2012-2016), a magazine on Central and Eastern Europe. She currently works at the magazine as an editor.
