Eli Wing
(USA) is a percussionist, conductor and teaches percussion workshops. He studied Jazz Drums, orchestra percussion and music education at the Conservatory of Music of Brooklyn College in New York and the Royal Conservatory The Hague. In 2018, he graduated at the Royal Conservatoire. Eli has played with Sysmo Amsterdam, has conducted the amateur group Bombito for many years and has collaborated with La Maquina. He conducts percussion band Pulse in the Writers Unlimited anniversary show Playing with Fire in Amare (26 January 2025), consisting of Mees Siderius (surdos and other percussion), Remco Menting (cowbell and other percussion), Ruben de Ruiter (congas) and Mark Ooman (shakers). They create 100% improvised groove music using the Rhythm With Signs (RWS) method developed by Argentinian composer and percussionist Santiago Vasquez. The players initiate the music and the conductor gives shape and form to the piece using hand signs which indicate musical actions; A live, improvised DJ set on a knife's edge.
