Ciconia Consort

performs during Uitreiking Haagse Literatuurprijzen at the Writers Unlimited Festival 2026 with four musicians (violin: Stephan Nieuwesteeg and Novilė Maceinaite; viola: Kardelen Buruk; cello: Beste Yildiz). They will play the Armenian traditional dance music Erzurumi Shoror and the movements Indi Mindi and Hirtentanz from Miniatures for string quartet on Georgian folk themes (1961) by Sulkhan Tsintsadze. Ciconia Consort – The Hague String Orchestra is an international ensemble of 20 young top musicians led by Dick van Gasteren. This contemporary ensemble distinguishes itself through thematic programmes, a focus on forgotten repertoire and collaborations with a wide range of artists and scientists. Ciconia has released five acclaimed CDs, which can be heard worldwide. Ciconia's latest album, Couleurs de France, was released at the end of 2025.
