Benjamin Herman

is a saxophonist and one of The Netherlands’ most visible and productive jazz musicians. He has released over 50 albums as both a solo artist and as front man of his groove-orientated ensemble, New Cool Collective. His solo work varies from classic Dutch avant-garde with Han Bennink and Misha Mengelberg to collaborations with Dutch poets, pop singers and hip-hop artists. Herman writes columns and presents the Soul & Jazz program on national broadcaster Radio 2 and the podcast Get In!, in which he speaks and makes music with young musicians from the world of jazz and related styles. The Benjamin Herman Quartet (that consists during Ode aan Remco Campert & Uitreiking Haagse Literatuurprijzen on 21 January 2024 of Benjamin Herman (saxophone), Thomas Poll (double bass), Timothy Banchet (piano) en Jimmi Hueting (drums) has formed the basis in his search for a recognisable and personal saxophone sound.
