The activities of Writers Unlimited are carried out under the Stichting Writers Unlimited foundation. The foundation is registered with the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration as a Public Benefit Organisation (ANBI). Its RSIN or tax identification number is 8031.28.320.

The foundation’s objective is to provide writers, poets, artists and thinkers from around the world with diverse platforms to engage with one another and with the public on literature, art, science and society. This is done in particular through the organisation of the Winternachten festival, as well as through all activities related to or conducive to this objective.

Members of the board receive no remuneration for their work. Expenses incurred in the course of their board duties are reimbursed, provided they are not excessive. The foundation’s remuneration policy aims to compensate its staff according to standards that are socially accepted and responsible, in line with its status as a Public Benefit Organisation.
