In this Dutch-language episode, Ellen Deckwitz chose The Evenings by Gerard Reve as her favourite book. His debut novel, first published in 1947, follows Frits van Egters, a 23-year-old failed grammar school student plagued by terrible dreams. He is annoyed by his father, his mother and his friends.

During the 2024 Writers Unlimited Festival, she spoke with Hassnae Bouazza about how this book has inspired and moved her.
