(2004, 80 min) Documentary maker Jos de Putter tries to unravel the mystery around the identity of Kurban Saïd, the author of the well known book Ali and Nino. This book appeared in 1937 and became known as the Romeo and Juliet of the Caucasus: a love story about a Muslim boy and a Christian girl in the Azerbaijani port of Bakoe. It was years before the book came to the public's attention and still nothing is known about the author, except for the alias Kurban Saïd. De Putter visited witnesses and places where the mysterious author might have been. Dutch subtitled.
