FFÛH x Writers Unlimited Festival: presentation new anthology by young The Hague poets

Young poets from The Hague publish their second FFÛH anthology! On Saturday afternoon, 24 January 2026 (exactly one year after their first collection, Zilt en Asfalt), the new collection, entitled Omhoog slaan: negen dichters over Haagse architectuur, published by PIP The Hague, will be presented in a festive ceremony with readings by the poets in the foyer of Theater aan het Spui as part of the Writers Unlimited International Literature Festival The Hague.

The poets contributing to Omhoog slaan are Sascha Luinenburg, Roos Cornelissen, Douwe Hovingh, Ankje van Oostveen, Emma Wiersma, Lies Kelder, Nina Duijs, Louise van der Veer en EW Claassen.

Festival tip: this Saturday afternoon, we will be hosting a whole series of writer interviews, performances, recitals, award ceremonies and a live podcast recording.

- 12:00-13:00 hrs. Zaal 1: author Anna Krijger speaks about her book Geen mens meer in Gaza (No One Left in Gaza). Dutch spoken.
- 13:30-14:30 hrs, Zaal 1: Interview with Adriaan van Dis about his new novel, Alles voor de reis (Everything for the Journey). Dutch spoken.
- 13:45-14:45 hrs, foyer: Open Mic with FFÛH! Dutch spoken.
- 15:00-16:00 hrs, Zaal 2: Liefde, lezen, lust: YOUNG! by FFÛH and VPRO Club Lees with writer Hanna Bervoets and FFÛH poets Lies Kelder and Lila Maria de Coninck, among others. Dutch spoken.
- 15:30-17:00 hrs, Zaal 1: Presentation of The Hague Literature Prizes, festive programme with recitals and music. Dutch spoken.
- 16:00-17:00 hrs, foyer: Presentation of the new FFÛH poetry collection with performances by the poets of FFÛH. Dutch spoken.
- 17:00-18:00 hrs, Room 2: Fixdit podcast recording: interview with writer Shantie Singh about her female sources of inspiration.

On Saturday afternoon 24 January 2026, the foyer of Theater aan het Spui was open to the public free of charge; to access the auditorium programmes, tickets were available via writersunlimited.nl.

After the presentation, the FFÛH anthology was available at the festival stand of De Vries Van Stockum bookshop in the foyer of Theater aan het Spui.

FFÛH was a collective and literary platform for young writers in The Hague. FFÛH has a strong desire to provide a broader stage for the undiscovered writing talent that lurks in The Hague. It has emerged as a platform for poetry evenings, open mics and collective writing sessions. It also offers new poets the opportunity to be published in an anthology.

Fester Vogels

(The Netherlands, 2000) is a writer, visual artist and co-founder of the Hague poetry collective FFûH. Their texts attempt to find recognition within alienation, with texts full of stimuli, twists and turns. Within the chaos, representation and the recovery of narratives are central to his work. They contributed work, and also served as editor and cover designer, to Zilt en Asfalt, the first collection by FFûH, which was presented with readings during the Writers Unlimited Festival 2025. Their work has also appeared in Kluger Hans and SKUT. Fester's first poetry collection, Tijgerbalsem in je Ogen - Een opeenhoping van queer, poëtisch proza (Tiger Balm in Your Eyes - An Accumulation of Queer, Poetic Prose), was published in 2024.

Lies Kelder

(1998) comes from Rotterdam and works in Amsterdam. Lies combined her studies at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy with academic degrees in public administration, Dutch literature and philosophy. Through collage and deconstruction processes, she explores the visual and imaginative elements of text. In addition to being a writer and artist, she is an editor at the literary magazine SKUT, where other work by her can also be found. She will be reading from her work included in the FFÛH anthology Omhoog slaan, which will be presented during the Writers Unlimited Festival 2026.

Emma Wiersma

(1998, she/her) writes about art and as art. Works for West Den Haag and writes art reviews and reflections for Metropolis M, Mister Motley, Tubelight, and others. Seeks poems in and beyond language. Strings together a chain of rabbit droppings. Her poems have been published in the collection Omhoog slaan (2026) by The Hague-based young poets collective FFÛH.

Jady van Zijl

(2000) studied philosophy in Tilburg. Their view of poetry is that it is the place where language is used to strip language of itself. Poetry's job is to show the ambivalence of speaking thought and then to let it collapse into itself, thereby wresting it from its own purpose. His poetry was published in the first collection by The Hague's young poets collective FFÛH, titled Zilt en asfalt (2025).

Louise van der Veen

(2000, she/her) is a poet and studied both clinical technology and philosophy. In her poetry – but also in her research master's degree in cognitive neuroscience – she explores the brain, perception and imagination. In her creative oeuvre, humans and their brains are constantly placed in new contexts in order to question the interplay between alienation and connection with oneself, others and the environment. According to her, everything is a little strange, as long as you look at it closely enough. Her poems have been published in Elders Literair, Hard//hoofd and in the collection Omhoog slaan by The Hague's young poets collective FFÛH. Together with Bart Lanser and Tara Zagorac, she forms the poetry band Wildgroei.

Sascha Luinenburg

(1994, he/him) writes poetry and prose. His work has been published by Perdu and in Seizoenszine, among others. In 2025, he published the chapbook Grafietstreep. He also creates art and organises literary events as a member of the art collective ROEM. He is tired but undaunted. In 2026, his poems appears in the collection Omhoog slaan by the young poets' collective FFÛH in The Hague.

Nina Duijs

(2005, they/their) work spans various disciplines. Originally from Nijmegen, they completed the Creative Contemporary Dancer programme in Arnhem. Now living in Utrecht, they enjoy working in the performing arts. As a writer, Nina focuses on expressing their inner world, playing with the meaning of words. Their poems have been published in the collection Omhoog slaan (2026) by the Hague-based young poets' collective FFÛH.

(2002, he/him) is a writer and tinkerer. His work ranges from idyllic and classical to the dirty, filthy alleys of jazz-half-rhyme-sound poetry, limping and rhythmic footwork. (2001, he/him) is a budding artist and writer. He attempts to create art and entertainment out of frustration and setbacks. His work seeks to turn the grave into a rabbit hole and make the dark ocean boil and bubble. All while searching for recognition, connection and a little bit of hopelessness. is the pen name of Roos Cornelissen (2005, he/him). Roos is from Nijmegen (!!) and is currently studying Writing for Performance at the HKU. For Roos, writing is often a way of making his ideas tangible. Hopefully, this creates a connection: “look, I think/feel this, what do you think/feel?”. Anke van Oostveen

(1978, she/her) is a young writer. Until recently, she thought that the other person was the writer. In her writing, she questions the reliability of memories. She considers them a form of time experience and explores how we can never see ourselves as others see us. She finds it both pleasant and difficult that we exist in different versions of ourselves. In another life, she is a registrar, volunteers at a hospice and helps people with their work. She worked for a while at an onion-cutting factory in The Hague and yes, onions make her cry. In 2026, her poems will be published in the collection Omhoog slaan by the young poets' collective FFÛH in The Hague.
