Pamela Durán Díaz

is a Senior Planning and Governance Specialist and lecturer at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS), Erasmus University Rotterdam. She is an architect with a PhD in Urbanism focusing on sustainable land and urban governance. With professional and academic experience in more than 60 countries, she bridges spatial planning, policy, and community resilience through participatory and evidence-based approaches. Her research focuses on participatory governance, Nature-Based Solutions, heritage, and decolonisation of Indigenous and local knowledge. Pamela is also a storyteller—she weaves narrative into her teaching, public talks, and research communication to make complex governance challenges tangible and human. Through human- and environment-centred narratives, she seeks to connect data with empathy and transform understanding into action.
