For our (online) programme Erfstukken (Inheritance) and its print publication we filmed conversations with and readings by writers Eva Meijer and Babeth Fonchie, and illustrators Fleur Kotten and Jessica Bacuna at bookstore De Vries Van Stockum in Den Haag. View the readings of their moving letters addressed at other generations here.

How pleasant these conversations were and how intense were those readings at bookstore De Vries Van Stockum! The occasion was so special because not only was it Babeth Fonchie's birtthday, it was also the first day the bookstore re-opened for customers after a long lockdown period.

For Erfstukken, Writers Unlimited asked five authors to write a letter to a family member of another generation in which they elaborate on a present-day concern or fear. Five illustrators each responded to a letter with a unique illustration. Graphic designer Herman van Bostelen turned the letters and illustrations into a fine booklet that is both a leporello and a series of greeting cards.

The Erfstukken print publication is exclusively available (€7,50) at the De Vries Van Stockum bookstore and webshop.

Read the English translations of all five letters and view the conversations and readings (in Dutch) on video here on www.writersunlimited.nl.
